TSCC19 Grants Notice of Eligibility and Process of Identification

The state has announced two COVID-19 grants for identified K-12 school staff who provided services to students during school building closures due to the coronavirus pandemic. Eligible classroom teachers can receive $500, and eligible support staff can receive $250. Checks are expected to be sent out by the Michigan Department of Treasury the week of February 25, 2021.

St. Clair County RESA will email the grant certification form 5734 to potentially eligible teachers and support staff on November 9, 2020. It is important to note that there may be employees who are initially qualified for the grant, but do not meet the grant’s eligibility requirements. If you do not receive an eligibility notification email by the end of the day on November 9 and wish to appeal, please email human resources manager Nikki Sygit at sygit.nikki@sccresa.org by December 4.

Please note that the TSSC19 grant eligibility parameters are very narrowly defined:

Classroom Teacher: A K-12 full-time or part-time teacher with an assigned class who provided continuity of learning to students during the 2019-2020 period of school closure that resulted from COVID-19. Classroom teacher does not include substitute teachers, paraprofessionals, support staff, or administrators.

School Support Staff: A K-12 full-time or part-time paraprofessional, aide, or non instructional staff, according to the Registry of Educational Personnel, who provided services to students during the 2019-2020 period of school closure that resulted from COVID-19. School support staff does not include substitute teachers or classroom teachers.
