Academies

St. Clair County Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) serves as the “Authorizing Agency” for several unique public school academies.

Academies chartered by RESA have missions to serve a student population in ways not found in the traditional public school district.

The academies are provided oversight through the Chief Administrative Officer and the Academy Business Office. Directors for each academy manage the day-to-day operations.

Alternative Education Academies Chartered by RESA

These academies provide instruction to students in non-traditional settings.

• Academic Transitional Academy of St. Clair County
  Provides academic and pre-vocational support services to secondary level students.
• Blue Water Learning Academy
  Provides schooling for youths in grades 7-12 who have not been successful in traditional school settings.
• St. Clair County Intervention Academy
  The academy provides educational opportunities to court adjudicated youth ages 12-19 in the St. Clair County Juvenile Detention Center and/or adult correctional facility.
• St. Clair County Learning Academy
  Provides schooling for youths in grades 6-12 who are under the jurisdiction of St. Clair County Circuit Court Family Division.

Vocational Academies Chartered by RESA

Each Academy provides specialized vocational instruction to St. Clair County students.

• Health Careers Academy
  With assistance from regional health care providers, offers quality health occupation programs through superior instruction, industry standard curriculum, and exemplary classroom settings.
• Hospitality Academy
  With support from the local hospitality industry, provides quality programming in the areas of food service and culinary arts.
• Industrial Technology Academy
  Allows high school juniors and seniors to explore and prepare for careers in manufacturing. The Academy offers the following programs: Metal Machining Technology, Mechatronics (Automation), Drafting/CAD, and Welding.
• Information Technology Academy
  Prepares students for exciting and rewarding careers in administrative support, accounting, finance, network administration, A certification, digital media technology and will link closely with post-secondary institutions for continued learning.
• Public Safety Academy
  Allows high school juniors and seniors to explore and prepare for a career in law enforcement, criminal justice, firefighting, and corrections.
• Academy of Style
  With the assistance from local experts, prepares high school juniors and seniors for a career in cosmetology.
