St. Clair County Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) serves as the “Authorizing Agency” for several unique public school academies.
Academies chartered by RESA have missions to serve a student population in ways not found in the traditional public school district.
The academies are provided oversight through the Chief Administrative Officer and the Academy Business Office. Directors for each academy manage the day-to-day operations.
Alternative education academies chartered by RESA
These academies provide instruction to students in non-traditional settings.
- Blue Water Learning Academy
Provides schooling for youths in grades 7-12 who have not been successful in traditional school settings.
- St. Clair County Learning Academy
Provides instructional support for at-risk students who were former Learning Acdemy students and who now attend the Virtual Learning Academy.
- Virtual Learning Academy
Provides alternative online learning for students ages 16–19 who have voluntarily stopped attending school for more than 30 days, and expelled students in grades 9–12.
Vocational academies chartered by RESA
Each Academy provides specialized vocational instruction to St. Clair County students.
- Academy of Style
With the assistance from local experts, prepares high school juniors and seniors for a career in cosmetology.
- Allows high school juniors and seniors to explore and prepare for a career in culinary arts, digital media technology, energy technologies and services, engineering graphics and animation, health careers, information technology, robotics and mechatronics, metal machining and welding.

St. Clair County Intervention Academy
The academy provides educational opportunities to court adjudicated youth ages 12-19 in the St. Clair County Juvenile Detention Center and/or adult correctional facility.
