Early Childhood Education Great Parents, Great StartBenefiting children ages 0–5 and their families, RESA staff coordinates the efforts of contracted personnel to perform home visits and conduct playgroups. Through this state grant, the RESA maintains a toll-free information and referral telephone line and manages Great Start information on the RESA Web site. Great Start Collaborative In May 2006, the St. Clair County Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) was awarded a grant by the Early Childhood Investment Corporation to convene a community-wide Great Start Collaborative. The Collaborative’s members include community residents, parents, and professionals. The assignment: - Conduct an assessment of early childhood strengths and needs
- Strategically review local data, community assets and program gaps
- Review and assess the scope of early childhood systems now in place
- Prepare a Strategic Plan based on this information and analysis

Parent Coalition The Great Start Parent Coalition is a working group of parents willing to take on leadership roles in the community, advocate for children, and provide perspective and input to the Great Start Collaborative. View the invitation to join the Parent Coalition.
Great Parent centers now openSt. Clair RESA is now offers free home visits and playgroups to qualifying parents with young children in St. Clair County. The home visits and play groups are offered in cooperation with three Great Parents Resource and Information Centers that operate out of Algonac Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Elementary and Capac Elementary schools. Each center is open to the public however hours differ at each site. Parents can check out children's books, parenting resources, and developmentally appropriate toys or receive advice from an early childhood professional. Parents can sign up for play groups, and, if they qualify, register for home visits. For more information call each center directly or St. Clair RESA at (810) 364-8990.
