Early Childhood Advocacy

What is advocacy?

Advocacy is building support for an issue among audiences such as the general public, elected officials, the media and key leaders.

Why should you advocate?

When you are passionate about a topic you may want to get others to share in your passion or to at least be aware of the topic. This can be done through advocating. Advocating for early childhood will improve the lives of children in St. Clair County and Michigan by influencing community members, groups, other parents and even legislatures.

How can you advocate?

  • Write letters to your legislature
  • Talk to the media
  • Speak to parent groups
  • Invite a legislator to visit your program
