Career and Technical Middle College FAQs


What programs are part of the Career and Technical Middle College?
Computer Programming, Health, Information Technology, Welding, Metal Machining and Mechatronics.

What certifications can a student earn in each program?
Industry credential, technical middle college certificate (15+ credits), college certificate (30+ credits) and associate degree (60+ credits).

When do students decide to participate in the Career and Technical Middle College?
When students sign up for their TEC class their junior year, they will need to make their decision to join the Career and Technical Middle College program or to take the regular TEC program.

Will students need to write a personal curriculum?
Students will not need a personal curriculum to participate in the Career and Technical Middle College.

Can the students SAT placement scores be used instead of Accuplacer to determine college readiness for required English and Math courses? 
Yes, below are the SAT scores required to place at the college level.
       Writing and Language - 25 or higher is needed to place into ENG 101
       Math - 421-500 is needed for BUS 158
       Math - 501-570 is needed for MTH 104/110/112

What if the students SAT scores are below what is required? 
Students will have the option to take the Accuplacer to see if they qualify as college ready or they will need to take a remedial course (pre-college).
