The business department of St. Clair County RESA serves the business needs of the organization. These services include accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, employee benefit management, fiscal grant coordination, and internal auditing.

Communications with business managers

The monthly RESA-facilitated business managers meeting is an opportunity to update and/or inform countywide school business officials about new grant management record-keeping requirements, recent legislative action, state and federal personnel changes, filing deadlines and new fiscal reporting criteria.

Consultation services

The RESA business department offers consultation services to local district business departments at the RESA or at the district business office. These services can involve audit preparation, grant management, and departmental efficiencies. RESA’s business department also can provide temporary staff replacements or assistance to a district in an emergency.

Employee benefit fiscal coordination

Benefit laws and packages are constantly changing. The RESA business department coordinates the fiscal activities related to benefits.

Fiscal grant management

RESA’s business department has been the fiscal agent for state and federal grants that fund programs benefiting districts countywide. Services offered include budget development, accounts payable and receivable, report filing, and internal auditing.

Special education transportation coordination

The RESA business office provides fiscal services for special education transportation. Several districts contract with the RESA to provide transportation for their special education students.

The RESA business department develops manuals and training workshops for financial software used by the county’s public schools.
