The St. Clair County RESA offers beginning driver training and Commercial Driver License (CDL) training to prospective bus drivers.

Beginning school bus driver training 

Persons interested in earning bus driver certification may complete the required 18 hours of instruction through RESA. Beginning driver training is held every 90 days. Classes are conducted from 7 a.m to 1 p.m. without a lunch break on the following dates:

 

  • February 2, 3, 4, 2010
  • May 4, 5, 6, 2010
  • August 17, 18, 19, 2010
  • November 2, 3, 4, 2010

 

 

Please note that this schedule complies with State of Michigan guidelines.

Continuing education training 

The RESA also offers ongoing training to bus drivers to maintain their certifications every two years. The next two-day training will be offered again in 2010. Drivers need six hours of training to retain certification.

 

One-day class (each class is 6 hours)

  • Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, 7 a.m.–1 p.m.

Two-day class (each class is 3 hours; must attend both sessions)

  • Tuesday, Sept. 29 and Wednesday, Sept. 30, 6–9 p.m both nights
