Truancy

The RESA’s Attendance Officer works with building principals to:

• Interpret the Michigan Compulsory Attendance law as it relates to each district’s attendance policy
• Assist districts in writing attendance policies
  
• Hold hearings and conduct investigations surrounding excessive absences
• Supervise truancy field personnel
  
• Petition the court when necessary
• Act as the liaison between the court system and the schools
