Homeless Student Assistance

The purpose of the Homeless Student Assistance program is to provide educational assistance for children and youth who are homeless or in shelter programs, to network with schools and agencies to ensure educational continuity, and to identify and eliminate barriers to success in school.

RESA staff serve as liaison between the students/families and the schools, and provide a variety of services. RESA offers in-service opportunities to districts about the school’s responsibilities and roles regarding homeless students. RESA provides tutors to meet with students in varying locations, coordinates record keeping, arranges transportation, and schedules other support as needed. RESA staff also train shelter staff about working with schools.

Kids and teens across our community can get free meals all summer long. Text FOOD or COMIDA to 304-304 to find a Meet Up and Eat Up site near you or click on the link below for an interactive map.
