Driven by the RESA vision to empower all St. Clair County students to pursue a successful future, Rachel designs learning experiences that engage students and teachers to best prepare all graduates with academic knowledge and Skills4theFuture, and a voice in determining a passion-guided plan for their next steps beyond high school. Design thinking, inquiry, and brain-based learning are guiding principles in Rachel’s projects; this philosophy has been successful most notably in the Classroom4theFuture initiative. Rachel partners with local and regional business, non-profit, and economic development representatives to understand workforce needs and collaborates to connect students and teachers to relevant learning contexts such as Manufacturing Day and Challenge4theFuture.

Prior to joining RESA in 2013, Rachel taught primarily English Language Arts at the middle school level for 13 years, during which time she was on her school’s MTSS leadership team. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching in Reading and English Language Arts, and a Master of Arts in Educational Technology. Although Rachel is certified to teach English, history, and technology at the secondary level, she is also a certified K-12 reading specialist.
