Homeschool Programs and Registration

Enrich your child’s knowledge and connection with the natural world. An environmental educator will lead indoor and outdoor hands-on activities to help students thoroughly understand nature concepts. These programs provide an excellent opportunity to get outside, meet other homeschool families and supplement your at-home lessons!

Native American Explorations
Wednesday, March 6, 2024
10 am-12:30 pm
Grades: 3rd-5th
Cost: $6 per student

Homeschool students will learn about Native Americans in the Blue Water Area through hands-on activities and artifact explorations. We will hike our trails in search of plants used by Native Americans for their dwellings, food and medicinal purposes. Dress for the weather and hiking. This program is designed for the students enrolled and parents do not stay. Register early as class sizes are limited to the first 15 students that sign up.

Traveling Seeds & Tree Needs
Thursday, March 21, 2024
9:30 am-Noon
Grades: 2nd & 3rd
Cost:  $6 per student
 

Through hands-on activities and an informational hike, students will learn about the amazing adaptations of seeds, examine “tree cookies” and model how trees compete to meet their essential needs.  Dress for the weather and hiking. This program is designed for the students enrolled and parents do not stay. Register early as class sizes are limited.

Vernal Pool Ecology-2 day program (Program FULL, Registration CLOSED)
Wednesday, April 3 & Thursday, April 4, 2024
10:30 am -1:00 pm
Grades: 6th-9th
Cost: $15 per student

Homeschool students currently in 6th-9th grades will learn about the fascinating world of vernal pools and the critters that inhabit them.  Two days of attendance are required for this class!  Students will participate in a combination of indoor learning and outdoor field studies at our forest wetland areas, which we will survey to see if it meets the requirements to be considered a vernal pool.  Students should dress for the weather, bring tall rain boots or waders and extra clothes (in case they get wet)!  This program is designed for the students enrolled and parents do not stay.  Register early as this class is limited to the first 12 students that sign up.
