Last week, our Second Shift Academy for middle and high school educators collaborated with Friends of the St. Clair River. Second Shift gives educators the opportunity to learn from the perspective of students and apply that knowledge to their classrooms. They began by collecting water samples at Lighthouse Beach and testing the samples for microplastics, both visible and invisible to the naked eye. Using this as an entry point to thinking about garbage as more than just litter, they were able to consider how they can use hands-on learning to encourage students to question the world around them and get them to seek knowledge based on first-hand experience. #WeAreSCCRESA #ProjectBasedLearning

💜 Last week, staff from RESA's Administration Building, East Campus, and Creekside Learning Center showed their support for Suicide Prevention Month by wearing purple. Through our Families In Need employee contribution fund, we're donating $20 to the St. Clair County Suicide Prevention Committee for each employee who participated (up to $500). #SuicidePreventionMonth #WeAreSCCRESA
