Last month, Port Huron High School seniors heard from recent graduates during a PHHS Alumni Panel focusing on life after high school. PHHS Alumni Sarah Albany, Katie Allen, Lilah Apolzan, Jenna Klos, Clara Malick, Gavin Shattuck, and Rylee Thompson shared insights and experiences about college, careers, and different paths they've taken since high school. Their stories included a wide range of options, including universities, colleges, and trade school and offered practical advice as seniors prepare for their next steps. The event was organized by Garrett Goulding, the school's Blue Water College Access Network college advisor.

This role has given me a broader perspective from the county level and new opportunities to support students and staff. Tell us a little bit about yourself: I have been happily married to my husband and best friend for the past 32 years. Our lives are always full of adventures and family time, and I am so grateful for the family and life we have created together. I have two beautiful, amazing children whom I am so very proud of, as well as a precious daughter-in-law and sweet future son-in-law. I have also been blessed with six amazing grandbabies—my little angels. What do you like to do in your free time? I love adventures and spending time with my husband, as well as family dinners, family pool days, overnighters, and craft time with my grandbabies. I love game nights and bonfires with family and friends. I also love reading, crocheting, and anything Halloween-related. What’s a fun fact about yourself? In my senior year of High School, I competed for the title of fastest typist in the State of Michigan, and I won! What led you to this career? My children. When they started school, I didn't want to be away from them, so I began volunteering in their school. The next thing I knew, I was hired.
