Throughout the Winter semester, 7th graders from across St. Clair County gathered together every Friday afternoon to tackle a real-world community challenge through creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Students were challenged to answer the question, "How might we increase community support of historical and cultural institutions?" In partnership with Port Huron Museums, students worked closely with the museum's Curator of Programs and Education, who served as an expert liaison, providing mentorship and insight as students explored their ideas. The semester culminated with final presentations showcasing their work to a panel of museum staff and board members. A huge thank you to the museum for partnering with us to inspire our next generation of thinkers, makers, and doers! #WeAreSCCRESA #DesignThinking #CommunityPartners

Meet our newest (and fuzziest) team member! Frannie, our future therapy dog, made her first visit to the RESA Admin Building last week. She tagged along with her handler, Chelsey Hull, Creekside Learning Center Dean of Students, to fill out some paperwork (and maybe sneak in some cuddles along the way). Thank you to the Community Foundation of St. Clair County for their generous support of $12,000, which will fully cover the cost of Frannie's adoption and specialized training. Stay tuned as Frannie begins her training to support students at Creekside and Woodland Developmental Center. #WeAreSCCRESA #TherapyDog #MeetFrannie

Last week, on Take Your Child to Work Day, we welcomed a special group of visitors to our campus—our employees' children! Students spent the morning shadowing their parents and getting a behind-the-scenes look at the work happening across our organization. Each child was then challenged to come up with a way to make their parent's job easier or better. The ideas they shared were creative, thoughtful, and inspiring, proving that innovation has no age limit. Throughout the day, students also enjoyed hands-on activities and crafts. We loved sharing our workplace and seeing it through their curious minds.

Chelsea Montroy, from Marysville High School, and Nolynn Allen, from Capac High School, represented St. Clair TEC's Health Careers Program at the 2025 Michigan HOSA State Leadership Conference, held April 17-18 in Traverse City. The team competed in the Health Careers Display event, presenting their project on the role of a Labor and Delivery Nurse. While they did not place in the top tier of their competition, they gained valuable experience developing leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Way to go, Chelsea and Nolynn!
