The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) chapter at St. Clair County Technical Education Center (TEC) has earned two prestigious national awards: the NTHS Core Four Excellence Award and the Silver Star of Excellence Award. These newest accomplishments bring the chapter’s total number of national awards to an impressive 13.
The Core Four Excellence Award is the highest recognition given by NTHS, honoring chapters that demonstrate outstanding contributions in the core areas of career development, leadership, service, and recognition. Only four chapters nationwide receive this honor annually.
In addition, the chapter was selected for the Silver Star of Excellence Award, recognizing its dedication to student engagement and achievement across all four NTHS pillars. This award highlights the chapter’s efforts to provide meaningful opportunities that highlight the importance of career and technical education and foster leadership, service, and recognition among its members.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the dedication our officers and NTHS members showed this year in earning these national awards,” said Lane Robinson, counselor and NTHS advisor at St. Clair TEC. “What makes this even more meaningful is that our students aren’t doing it for recognition. They’re doing it to make a difference in our community. Whether they were collecting donations, ringing bells for the Salvation Army across the county, or braving the icy waters of Lake Huron in December, they did it all in the name of giving back.”
The St. Clair County TEC NTHS chapter’s notable achievements include TEC KIDS CARE, their flagship annual community service project, which collected 24 vehicles full of clothing items donated to Kids in Distress; $8,019.39 raised for the Salvation Army through bell ringing; and over 200 students and staff who braved the icy waters of Lake Huron in December, raising $4,367.24 at the Kiwanis Club Polar Bear Plunge.
These accomplishments illustrate St. Clair TEC’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for success through high-quality CTE programs and leadership development.
