Families may be eligible for extra help buying groceries this summer through Michigan Summer EBT (SUN Bucks), a program that provides a one-time $120 grocery benefit for each eligible school-aged child.
Summer EBT fills the gap when children don't receive school meals during summer break. While most eligible children are automatically enrolled, some families will need to complete an application to receive benefits.
Families are encouraged to check whether they need to apply as soon as possible. The application deadline is August 31, 2026.
Benefits are delivered on an existing Michigan Bridge Card or, for families without one, on a new EBT card mailed to the family's address. Funds expire 122 days (about 4 months) after they are issued.
Summer EBT works alongside Meet Up and Eat Up Summer Meals programs to help ensure kids get nutritious food all summer long.
