Cosmetology students from the Career and Technical Education Center are helping Woodland students get ready for the big event. The public show will be at 5:30pm tonight. 📚Our Great Start Collaborative has added a new Talking Is Teaching bookshelf to the St. Clair County Health Department's waiting room at their new Fort Street location in Port Huron. The shelf is stocked with children's books to help little ones turn waiting time into learning time. I joined the Payroll Office in December 2024, and I’m still learning all the ins and outs of payroll. Some people think we just push a button and the checks appear, but there’s actually a lot that goes on before and after each pay. How has your role at RESA evolved? I started in the Business Office and worked there for seven years, then transferred to Woodland Developmental Center, where I spent almost 33 years. In December, I came back to the Business Services Department to work in the Payroll Office. What’s something people may not know about you? I didn’t attend high school during my last semester. I worked co-op at RESA full-time, except for two mornings a week when I went to St. Clair TEC. Do you have any hobbies? Kayaking, going up north, and mowing the lawn. What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you? My very first job was at my grandpa and uncle’s ice company, where I made block ice. If you could do another job for a day, what would it be? A florist. What’s something on your bucket list? Traveling to all 50 states. I’ve made it to 20 so far! Do you have pets? Yes, a dog named Avery.

🚓 The City of Port Huron has donated a retired police cruiser to St. Clair TEC's new Law & Public Safety Program. The cruiser will give students authentic, hands-on training experiences. The vehicle was delivered last week by Port Huron Police Chief Brian Kerrigan and Assistant Chief Jeremy Young to the program's location at Woodrow Wilson Elementary, where the program is housed. This collaboration with the Port Huron Police Department, Port Huron City Manager James Freed, and Port Huron Schools is helping to prepare students for in-demand careers in public safety.
