Preschool teacher leads student in a dance

Families in St. Clair County can now enroll their children in a no-cost, high-quality preschool program for the 2025-2026 school year through Michigan’s PreK for All initiative. The program is open to all children who will be 4 years old by December 1, 2025, regardless of household income.

Made possible by Michigan’s investment in early childhood education, PreK classrooms in St. Clair County are led by state-licensed teachers and offer flexible options for families:

  • Half-day or full-day programs

  • Four- and five-day schedules

  • Before- and after-school extended care (available for a fee or through child care scholarship)

  • Transportation (available in some areas)

“PreK for All provides a strong start for every child,” said Becky Gorinac, Director of Early Childhood Services at St. Clair County RESA. “Children who attend high-quality preschool programs develop stronger emotional, social, and academic skills, laying the foundation for success in kindergarten and beyond.”

Families have the flexibility to choose a PreK location that works best for them, whether that’s within their home school district or a neighboring one, near a caregiver, or in the community where they work. With a variety of school- and community-based programs available throughout St. Clair County, families can find an option that fits their schedule, routine, and child’s needs.
