St. Clair County Regional Educational Service Agency is pleased to announce the appointment of Erin Schweihofer as Supervisor of Career and College Programs. In her new role, Schweihofer will team with colleges, universities, community members, employers, and counselors to support all St. Clair County students in achieving their post-graduation college and career aspirations.
Schweihofer brings extensive educational leadership experience to the position, having spent 17 years working directly with adolescents and educational stakeholders. She began her career at Marysville High School, where she served as a teacher and coach before advancing to Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, and Principal. Most recently, she served as principal of the Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing Academy at Romeo High School in Macomb County. Her extensive background in education gives her a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that students face as they prepare for life after high school.
“My high school teaching and administrative experience give me a great sense of what challenges students are facing when it comes to making plans after high school,” Schweihofer said. “There are many educational opportunities and pathways, but the process of exploring options and preparing can be overwhelming for young people. Part of my role is to help make that information accessible and digestible to all students in our county.”
Schweihofer earned her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Central Michigan University with double majors in History and English, and holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Saginaw Valley State University. She is currently continuing her education and credentials through Oakland University.
Her responsibilities will include overseeing initiatives that help prepare students for life after school, including coordinating the Blue Water College Access Network (BWCAN). Through this work, she will support College Advisors at local high schools, collaborate with community stakeholders, and lead programming that expands career and college-focused programming across the county. She will also help facilitate student events, professional development for educators, and presentations and panel discussions centered on career and college readiness.
“All students benefit from having a goal for what they want to do after high school and a specific plan on how they will achieve it,” Schweihofer explained regarding her vision for the county. “Before graduation, they should be given information from colleges and career professionals, plus hands-on industry experiences to help shape their vision and formulate a plan.”
The position represents a homecoming for Schweihofer, whose personal and professional ties to St. Clair County run deep. Some of her most treasured memories are from her time at Marysville High School, where she taught subjects that include AP US History, World History, and English. She also coached high school and middle school student-athletes in basketball, track and field, and cross-country.
“St. Clair County is home,” noted Schweihofer. “As my two young children begin their school-age years, being more present for them was the top priority for me. This combination made joining RESA an opportunity I simply could not miss.”
Schweihofer’s immediate priorities include connecting with stakeholders across the Blue Water College Access Network to identify specific areas of growth through data analysis and key conversations about trends and opportunities. In the long term, she aims to develop programming events at local high schools that target the specific needs of student populations as identified by administrators and counselors.
“The people here at SCCRESA have been amazing,” Schweihofer said. “Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and supportive. I’m excited to work alongside the Education Services team and grow from their wisdom and support.”
