Meet college adviser Kaitlyn Cain. Kaitlyn is a Marysville native and Marysville High School grad, and now she’s back as the MHS college adviser. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology from Cornerstone University.
Kaitlyn became a college adviser to walk alongside students as they make one of the biggest decisions of their lives, and to get to know who they are along the way. Outside of school, she loves working out, coaching, junk journaling, and spending time with her dog and friends.
Her advice to students: “You do not need to have your entire life planned out. It’s okay to change direction!”
Marysville families can join Kaitlyn at Financial Aid Night on Monday, October 19 at 6 p.m. at Marysville High School. She’ll help students get started on the FAFSA and learn about options for paying for college.

School counselors from across the county gathered last week for our quarterly Counselor Networking meeting. Each meeting highlights a Career and Technical Education pathway available at St. Clair County TEC, and this month's theme was teen and adolescent health.
TEC's Health Career instructor walked counselors through the differences between the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Health Exploration pathways, advising students on which option best fits their interests. A panel of local professionals then shared insight on resources, best practices, and emerging trends.

Meet BWCAN College adviser Jane Blair. Jane is an Algonac native and Algonac Jr/Sr High School grad. Now she’s back at her alma mater as the college adviser. She started at St. Clair County Community College, then transferred to Central Michigan University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Family Studies and a concentration in Mental Health.
Her advice for college and career planning: “Consider starting at a community college. During my senior year, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my future, and I was guided toward St. Clair County Community College. Those two years gave me time to figure out what I wanted and to save money before transferring to a four-year university. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I could have made. Now, with the Michigan Community College Guarantee, students have an even greater opportunity to save money, explore their options, and transfer to a university with less debt.”

🦋 Second Shift Academy participants recently gathered for their second professional development session of the school year. The day kicked off with a group discussion and team-building exercise before everyone headed outside for a hands-on activity led by Melissa Kivel of Friends of the St. Clair River. Tackling the question, "How might we protect the monarch butterfly?", participants explored the plants and habitats on the SCCRESA campus. #WeAreSCCRESA #ProjectBasedLearning

A lot of behind-the-scenes teamwork helped make Woodland Developmental Center's 2nd Annual Fash Bash extra special. Part of that team was students from St. Clair TEC's Cosmetology program, who provided hair, makeup, and nail services to Woodland student models before they took the runway. This marked the second year TEC students have helped support the event, giving them the opportunity to put their skills into practice.
St. Clair County TEC Welding students Rori Cowhy, Brayden Fontenot, and Allie Stamplis represented TEC and their home schools at Ford ACCELERATE: The Essential Economy Conference on September 30 at Michigan Central in Detroit, where TEC was one of only three schools invited to participate. Our students shared original welding sculptures, demonstrated an interactive welding simulator, and talked with attendees about the skills they are building through career and technical education. Students also got the opportunity to meet comedian and actor Nate Bargatze who hosted this year's conference.
Meet BWCAN College Adviser Garrett Goulding. Garrett is a Port Huron native and Port Huron High School grad who’s now helping PHHS Red Hawks plan their next step. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on Sports Management from Rochester Christian University.
