Congratulations to Katherine Emerson, a senior at St. Clair High School and student in the Engineering and Robotics program at St. Clair TEC, on being named a recipient of a 2026 St. Clair County Association of School Boards (SCCASB) scholarship.

Chosen from 78 applicants from across St. Clair County, Katherine will receive a $1,000 scholarship as she prepares to continue her education at Michigan Technological University, where she plans to study chemical engineering with a minor in geology.

Katherine is currently finishing an internship in industrial engineering and has been actively involved in a number of school and community events, including FLURB Robotics, Science Olympiad, National Honor Society, 4-H, theater productions, and more.

As part of the application process, students were asked to name a teacher who made a meaningful impact on their educational journey. Katherine selected Melissa Todaro, her teacher in the Engineering and Robotics program at TEC.

We wish Katherine the best as she embarks on the next chapter of her educational experience.

St. Clair County TEC Law and Public Safety students recently participated in hands-on vehicle extrication training with the Marysville Public Safety Department. Through this interactive exercise, students observed and assisted with scence safety, vehicle stabilization, and patient access during simulated emergency situations.

With guidance from first responders, students worked with the tools and techniques used during rescue operations, including hydraulic cutters and spreaders. They also practiced communication, teamwork, and situational awareness skills that are critical in high-pressure moments.

Opportunities like this bring classroom learning to life through real-world, hands-on experiences.

During Teacher Appreciation Week, we recognize our amazing educators who guide, support, and inspire students every day. At RESA, that work extends far beyond the classroom.

It's part of every interaction, program, and role, including teachers, instructional aides, 31n mental health providers, administrators, and support staff. Every staff member plays a role in ensuring students feel safe, supported, and capable of success. That's what #WeAreSCCRESA means in action.

Thank you to our RESA team for an incredible school year and for the difference you make in our students' lives.
