TEC logo and photo of Lily Jean Hack with text reading, "TEC Student Spotlight LILY JEAN HACK National Technical Honor Society PM President 12th Grade, St, Clair High School TEC Program: Digital Media Technology G TEC has taught me to step outside of my comfort zone. Going to a new school with almost entirely new people, you're forced to put yourself out there. Stepping outside of the box I put myself in allowed me to flourish, learning more about myself at every turn."
TEC Logo with text reading, "Describe the hands-on experience you gained at TEC. I've had to opportunity to use professional equipment that I wouldn't have access to outside of TEC. With my internship through TEC I am able to go out into the field and get experience interviewing people, being on camera, filming b-roll and editing videos. What is your favorite thing about attending TEC? My favorite thing about attending TEC is the community. I love that there are students from all over the county. It's so fun to make friends from outside of the bubble of your home school. The staff is also so welcoming that you immediately feel at home walking through the doors. I have personally found a huge part of my support system through staff and students at TEC. What are your post-TEC plans? I want to go to Western Michigan University for film, and eventually I'd like to be a director of photography on TV and movie sets. What advice do you have for incoming TEC students? Go above and beyond. What you get out of TEC is what you put into it. While it's an amazing place for hands-on learning, putting in more than what is expected of you will give you the upper hand in your future. Putting in the extra mile shows others-and yourself-that you are capable of doing more than what's on paper."

In my previous role with the Michigan DNR, teaching was a major component— I served as the District 9 lead First Aid Instructor, taught multiple hunter education classes, and presented to students of all ages. During my career in law enforcement, I recognized gaps in my own preparation and felt a strong need to further educate and prepare young adults for careers in public safety. I felt confident I could draw on my personal and professional experiences and knowledge to help students prepare for a long and successful career in public service."

These experiences give me a broad knowledge base to draw on when teaching."
