✨ Students in the Explorer class at our Next Step Transition Program are spreading kindness and brightening the world with their new micro-enterprise, "Bright Abilities." Under the guidance of teacher Karolynn Poff, students hand-pour each candle using coconut wax and essential oils while learning workplace, communication, and life skills. Last week, they set up shop in RESA's Administration Building, where they sold their candles to RESA staff. The experience helped students practice teamwork, customer service, and financial literacy while building confidence and independence. #BrightAbilities #PortraitOfALearner #WeAreSCCRESA

It's time to celebrate the people who make #WeAreSCCRESA great! This week, we're spotlighting IT Technician Benjamin Austin. Thank you, Benjamin, for supporting our local students, schools, and staff. Drop a 👏 in the comments to help us show our appreciation.

Photo of Benjamin Austin with text reading, "Employee Spotlight: Benjamin Austin, IT Technician, Information Technology, One year with RESA. Everyone here is friendly, and they’ve been welcoming since I first joined RESA. Describe your job. As an IT Technician, I assist users with technology needs and troubleshoot issues to keep everything running smoothly. Most of my time is spent supporting technology for Port Huron Schools, helping students and staff stay connected and productive. What’s something people may not know about you? I collect pressed or stamped coins with designs on them. They make great travel souvenirs from places I visit, and it’s fun watching the machine press the design into the coins. It’s a great reminder of all the places I’ve been. What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you? I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen. I've made many meals from scratch, including Detroit-style pizza, macaroni and cheese, and even oxtails. What’s something on your bucket list? A trip to Madagascar. I’d love to see the lemurs in their natural habitat and explore the island’s giant baobab trees. Do you have pets? Yes, I have a pet newt that’s over 25 years old. He was actually my kindergarten class pet, and he’s been with me ever since."
