Dan and Lindsay Krauskopf didn't expect to receive a statewide award. They say they're simply doing what any parent would do. But their dedication to supporting their children and partnering closely with school staff recently earned them the 2026 Exceptional Parent Award from the Michigan Council for Exceptional Children. Dan and Lindsay were nominated by their son Miles' teacher, Angela Jackson, who was recently named a Region 5 Teacher of the Year. Miles attends Woodland Developmental Center, where he receives specialized support and has been thriving over the past two years. Help us congratulate them in the comments!

Woodland Developmental Center teacher Angela Jackson has been named a 2026-27 Region 5 Teacher of the Year by the Michigan Department of Education. This recognition places her among the top 10 finalists for the Michigan Teacher of the Year award, which will be announced this spring. Angela has taught at Woodland for nine years. In her classroom, Room 101, she creates an environment where every child feels valued, encouraged, and supported. Angela said being nominated by a parent makes the recognition especially meaningful. "Families trust us with their children, and that trust is never something I take lightly." Help us congratulate Angela in the comments! #WeAreSCCRESA

We are deeply grateful to the Community Foundation of St. Clair County Women's Initiative for their generous $28,000 grant to support our early childhood playgroups.

These playgroups bring families together through play, learning, and connection, helping young children build foundational skills while caregivers gain tools and confidence to support development at home. Strong starts matter, and this investment strengthens opportunities for our youngest learners across St. Clair County.

TEC logo and photo of a smiling Jason Belfinger, with text reading, "Employee Spotlight, Jason Belfinger, Instructor, Automotive Technology Program." A quote from Jason reads, " Of course, I want my students to become skilled automotive technicians. But even more than that, I hope they leave knowing they have someone who genuinely cares about them and believes in their potential. I want them to see what they’re capable of and start their careers with confidence."
TEC Logo and text reading, "Describe your program and what students learn In the first-year, students learn how to work safely in an automotive facility. They begin with basic automotive maintenance and then specialize in braking, steering, and suspension. Students also take the State of Michigan Mechanic Certification tests in these areas and develop important employability skills. How does your real-world industry experience influence your teaching? I know it might sound a little silly, but I always tell people that the automotive is my vehicle for teaching. My hands-on experience and passion allow me to connect with students in meaningful ways. They enjoy hearing real-world stories and seeing how those experiences relate directly to what they’re doing in our program."
TEC logo with text reading, "What inspired you to teach in Career and Technical Education? I attended St. Clair TEC as a student in the Automotive program. My instructor, Mr. Wunch, inspired me to pursue a career in the automotive field, and gave me the confidence to continue my education and become a teacher. I remain passionate about teaching because I thoroughly enjoy watching students grow in both maturity and technical skill. The most rewarding part of teaching is seeing students take what they’ve learned and succeed both on the job and in life. What's one thing you wish more people knew about CTE? CTE programs aren’t just about learning a trade. They help students develop problem-solving skills and build confidence in their ability to learn new things. If you know a student who has completed a CTE program, ask them to describe what it meant to them. CTE programs make a lasting difference in students’ lives."
TEC logo with text reading, "Beyond the Classroom Get to Know Jason Belfinger My family includes my wife, Amanda, and our 18-year-old daughter, Emily. We have a Border Collie named Ziggy.
